Eucalyptus sideroxylon Australia's unique flora provides almost unlimited inspiration for the botanical artist.  Indeed, botanical illustration is strongly associated with Australia's discovery by Europeans and with its early colonial history.  Those early illustrations of Eucalypts, Banksias, Grevilleas and a wealth of tropical plants, although purely scientific in purpose, are now timeless icons valued for their cultural and artistic merits as well as for their scientific and historic relevance.

Arisaema sikokianum Traditional garden flowers like roses and daffodils have always been prominent in botanical art. While Katrine's art certainly includes many old favorites, she is also attracted to rare and unusual plants.  Oddities, like the cobra lilies (Arisaema species) and the North American Wake-Robins (Trillium species) make striking subjects.
