Cafe Botanical is primarily a showcase for the botanical art of Australian watercolour painter, Katrine Scott-Findlay.

The site was designed, implemented and is administered using free and open source software, particularly:

Ubuntu is a Linux based operating system available free for personal computers (PC and Power Macs) and for servers.  We use Ubuntu on all our computers.  Our server uses Linux too.

Joomla! is a web content management system, also available free.  We built and maintain this site using Joomla! and free third party components such as the gallery plugin and the template used here.

The GIMP is an image manipulation program integrated with Ubuntu.  We used it to prepare all the images used on this site.

Firefox is simply the best web browser available.  It comes with Ubuntu and we use it exclusively.  It is also available (free) for windows. If you are still using IE, we apologise if the site does not always display in an optimal way. We prefer to use a system that conforms to international standards.
